Backflow hose or PVC pipe length

I would recommend using 2" PVC. I would also recommend putting a vacuum breaker on the line to allow the line to drain when you are done backwashing. You can get a cheap (less than $10.00) plastic vacuum breaker at most hardware or plumbing supply places. Where you come out of the multiport and use a 90 to go down, instead use a T and put the vent pointing up.

Thanks for the replies! There is a slight incline. Maybe 10 degrees. Is that too much of an incline? Is the issue that the pump won't be strong enough or that it will burn the pump out?

He was talking about using 1 1/4" pipe. Is that ok?

I take care of the everyday maintenance of the pool, so I want to make sure his project is not going to cause any problems! Thanks again!
