testing water before opening

I've taken the winter cover off and put on my solar cover but have not started my pump because average low temps are -2 degrees. Is there any reason to test water before pump\filter are on? Should I try to adjust chlorine levels without circulation or should I just wait the few weeks? Is there any advantage to opening the pool early? I live in Barrie Ontario.
This will be my second opening.

I don't see any reason to test for anything if the average temp is that low. I don't even look at my pool until the water gets close to 50 degrees.

I do not think there is much value to testing the water if it is not being circulated.

Being on the other side of the continent ... I do not close/open pools so I have not help for you there.

I just opened the other day with water temps in the high 50s. I cleaned all the debris from the pool, turned on the pump and let it circulate overnight before testing.
