I have read "Turning Your Green Swamp Back into a Sparkling Oasis" about six times now and I plan to make it my battle plan this weekend. I have a substantial supply of 10% bleach and ample supplies of CYA, Borax, Baking Soda, and I plan to get acid tonight. I also bought the Taylor K-2006 kit, which I found for $52.45. So, it seems that I have everything in order. I just have a couple of questions that would clarify the post for me some.
I bought my house in September, and it came with a pool. The pool has a sand filter and is above ground. I noticed in the TYGSBIASO post that you can use floc for faster results. I happen to have an almost full bottle of it that the previous owners left at my house. Should I use it? The pool will have a higher pH from the chlorine anyway, so would it hurt to do that before levelling the pH with acid?
Also, it seems like my multi-valve gasket (spider gasket?) is going out. If I set it to closed water pours out of the waste line. Also, I have overturn one direction and come back to get the Filter setting not to let water out of the waste line. Is this normal behavior or is it bad?
Thanks,
PS. My pool is about 13500 gallons, pump motor is 9 HP, and I have no clue how old my sand is.
