Pump pressure rising, air in filter

Ok, last fall before I shut everything down I noticed that the pressure in the filter kept rising and air was in the filter/basket. Backwashing temporarily fixed the problem but the pressure would rise in an hour or so and air would increase in the filter basket. I replaced the motor last year and it was done professionally. There are no leaks in the filter and I have no idea where to look next. Thoughts?

The air in the pump basket and the filter PSI rise are likely separate issues.

If you have an algae bloom, that will quickly clog any filter and raise the PSI. Also, since you have DE filter, caking can also be an issue. Have you taken it apart to clean the grids?

Air in the pump basket is usually due to the lid gasket/seal. You can first try some pool lube on that to see if it helps.
