    Trees/shrubs around above ground pool

I am looking for suggestions on trees or shrubs we can plant around our above ground pool (4' high). The area is between the pool and back of our yard and is 10' wide at the narrowest point. We are looking for trees/shrubs that will provide privacy up to 12-15' Thanks in advance!

Not sure what part of the country you live, but look into Redtips. Fast growers and the act like walls.

Thanks! I took a look but it looks like they are zone 6 (we are zone 5). We actually live in northern Illinois.

Up there you have a limited number of choices. Have you tried talking to a county extension agent or ag agent. The local guys usually are better at recommending something that will work in the local area.

PMsmith, look into evergreens or yews. I am from Chicago, and thats what we had around our pool. They can be trained/cut to any shape you want.

We planted a small dogwood bush next to our deck last year so we didnt have to look at the unkept yard next door, it has tripled in size and is about 7ft tall now. The bush loses the leafs in the winter but come back in the early spring. Fairly cheap too.

southern wax myrtles are good. grow very fast, drough tolerant, and evergreen. we put in 10 of them spaced 6 feet apart.

oops, just realized how far north you live. i don't think these will grow way up north.

We live in Missouri and have planted "Green Giant" Thuja trees around the bottom of our fence. They were the fastest growing we could find when moving into our home. The more water they get, the taller they get. Some are at least 15 feet tall, they started out at 4-5 feet, 5 years ago. We loved them so much, 2 years ago we ordered some on Amazon, I think we got 25 for $40, great deal. They were about 1 foot tall and now they are around 5 feet tall.
