New pool owner....first Spring coming up. I am "used" to using Scotts Bonus S with Fire Ant Killer for my lawn. It seems to work really well in Houston to battle the weeds and the ants that always seems to pop up. Normal application is done thru a simple wheel driven spreader.

Any reservations on continuing this process around the pool? I'm thinking of spreading by hand along the edges, but am unsure if I am asking for trouble.

If this product is not suitable, any suggestions?

You don't want either fertilizer or poison in your pool!

However, your spreader should have a relatively finite pattern. If you're careful and your pool has a good amount of deck around it you should be able to keep the product out of the pool. You'll need to be cognizant of the wind when your applying it and you'll need to sweep the deck off after application. Other than that, you should be fine.
