easy touch 8 programming issues

I can't seem to get the "generic" circuits to work as features. The pre-programmed circuit functions such as "spillway" and "master cleaner" work, but the relays I've programmed as "generic" will not work as feature. I named aux relay3 as pool_filler and connected it to an auto anti-siphon valve to fill the pool. I wanted to schedule it as an "eggtimer" schedule for 10 minutes. I can only switch the relays from the remote... The programming seems pretty straight forward, but I guess I'm doing something wrong. The manual doesn't seem to be much help.....
