My Hayward pump, inground pool, is aggressively cycling going from low draw through the skimmer to high draw almost emptying the skimmer and even drawing some air in. Is it time to replace the pump or is there a less cost fix you can recommend. I have already checked for leaks, none.

Sounds like the weir on your skimmer is sticking. It's the plastic flapper that is between the body of the skimmer and the pool. Try holding it down and seeing if the pump still does anything weird.

Thanks Mod Squad. Held down weir and cycling stopped. Pump still drawing more than normal, keeping skimmer just below half full. Plan to check o-ring on pump pod tonight to see if that helps get flow back to normal. Appreciate your thoughts and quick response!

it might be an obvious thing, but i thought i'd chime in. if your water level is low you would see similar behavior.
