what is clarifier?

My pool was recently re-plastered and it was suggested I add clarifier.
Don't see it recommended here so I figuered I would ask.

It is essentially a sticky liquid that causes small particles in the water to stick together so the filter can remove them more easily. We hesitate to recommend it often because it is frequently used to mask the symptoms of poor water chemistry. When there is a good reason, and you use it in reasonable amounts, it is fine.
