One test 6 ppm bromine, another 17 ppm bromine??

We have a vinyl liner that produced wrinkles a year and a half after install. The installer is saying our bromine level is way to high and that why we have wrinkles, his test showed:
    Ph 7.2
    Br 17
    Ch 300
    Alk 80

    Our test showed:
    Ph 7.5
    Br 5.0
    Ch 400
    Alk 90

Both tests done at the same time. Is this at all possible?

    Welcome to TFP!

What test kit were you using? Some of them are far more reliable than others.
19K gal, vinyl, 1/2 HP WhisperFlo pump, 200 sqft cartridge filter, AutoPilot Digital SWG, Dolphin Dynamic cleaning robot

Sorry should give some background info. Thanks for the welcome.
We are an indoor public pool around 140000 gallons.
We have been using a Bio-Lab colourmetric test kit here for the last 15 years capable of
testing up to 11 ppm bromine.

I should have been more specific; by "what kind of test kit was he using," I mean what kind of chlorine/bromine test did he run? OTO (shades of yellow), DPD (shades of pink/red), or FAS-DPD (titration from pink to clear)?

Make sure he's using the correct reagent, and multiplying the number of drops used by the correct factor, and that he's not converting that result into anything else (ie using R-0872 then multiplying the results by 2.25).

As for the high bromine levels causing wrinkling, that's another matter entirely.

Thanks for the info I will definitely ask the question.
What are your thoughts on high bromine causing wrinkles?

My rule of thumb, if it's discoloration it's high chlorine if it's wrinkles it's low pH. He's going to prove that high bromine causes wrinkles. Besides it can be lots of other things.
