Whisperflo leak at outlet

I used the search feature and found some good info on my issue. After installing my new pump, I had a small leak from the threads. I took it apart, cleaned the threads and reinstalled using dope and tape but it still leaked. Upon close inspection, it appears there is some damage to the threads on the pump. It may be from overtightening on my initial install.

I've read about using steel pipe to re-thread, and also read about using an O-Ring with Permatex to better seal the fitting. I also saw Waste refer to another method.

Is there any consensus on the best steps to take?

You might try a Schedule 80 fitting with dope. The threads are more true than Schedule 40.

It seems to have virtually stopped on its own. It's been running 24/7 to clear the pool and I guess either the dope or tape moved to block the leak
