Please use a relocation service if one is available in your area. We removed a hive earlier this year and it was actually about the same price as an exterminator would have been (per my neighbor who took that path a few years before).
For the traps: it may not put a dent in the hive but it certainly has lessened the number of bees and yellow jackets around the pool - they all end up near the trap.
Sorry I was not clear, it was an extermination company that does hive capture and removal. They take the bees across the Lake Ponchatrain. I didn't realize that they sold them over there but I guess they do.
I had a similar issue this summer, but all needed to do was bring the borate and chlorine level up for a few days and the bees found another water source.
