covering the pool temporarily

Seeing what the experts think of this.

I planned on closing my pool this week ( i had enough chemicals to last though it). However due to a short notice business trip that closing needs to be pushed back maybe 2 weeks. My thought was to just put a cover over the pool. Then after the 2 weeks, uncover and do a real closing (balance, shock, plug and anti freeze the pipes, cover).

think there is anything wrong with this? Or should I suck it up and buy 2 more weeks of pool chemicals for a pool nobody will use for the rest of the season.

thanks,
