At what chlorine level does a vinyl liner bleach out or start to get damaged? I've been assuming that it is OK to shock at normal shock level or somewhat above is OK, all the way up to mustard algae shock levels based on CYA..... but is this true?

well the max level is going to be based on how much CYA is in the water. I've seen pools damaged by relatively small amounts of chlorine because there was no CYA present.
Mustard algae shock level is fine for a couple of weeks. You wouldn't want to run your FC level that high all season however.
OK, how long at mustard algae level is too long is good to know. I don't have a vinyl pool and so never read up on that.
