Help decide on type of pool

We are located in Toronto and are hoping to get a pool built next spring once the grading of new home has been completed by the builder.

In speaking with a few pool companies most recommend a vinyl pool and some recommend a fibreglass pool.

What are the pros and cons for each and what would be best in the long term?

I read that Fiberglass pools floating out of the ground is an old wives tale. Makes sense to me that if it's filled with water and surrounded with a concrete deck it's not going to pop out of the ground. On the other hand any empty pool surrounded by interloc might float.

Any type pool can float if it's empty, sealed and the water table is high enough.

The more a pool weighs the higher the water has to get before it floats. A fiberglass pool is more well sealed than a liner pool and much lighter than a concrete pool. Hence the propagation of the belief that a fiberglass pool will float. It's akin to a boat, except the water goes on the inside instead of the outside.
