    Need Repair Help

Hi All...Shot a rock through my AGP yesterday with the lawn mower. Put a hole in the outside wall and the liner and of course the pool is peeing out water.

I have been told by some AGP experts that I need to purchase a new pool this can't be repaired.

I have been told by others to just rivet a patch of aluminum on the inside of the wall, put in new liner and voila.

Pool is a Johnny Weismuller aluminum 18' round that is 5 years old.

What say you guys? Help please.

    Welcome to TFP!

I'd think it would be fairly easy to patch. You just need to make sure the patch on the metal is smooth so it doesn't damage the liner. You can probably epoxy something in there to avoid any sharp rivets.

If you drop the water to a few inches below the hole, you should be able to get behind the liner to work on it.

Can you post a pic of the hole?
It can most likely be repaired by putting a patch over it but I'd like to see it first.
Even the liner may be saved if it isn't too bad.

If I do patch...How long do you think it will hold? its 1483 for a new steel wall morada pool on sale so I am trying to figure out the most cost effective solution over time.

I wouldn't expect more than 25 or 30 years out of it. Seriously, it'll last as long as the rest of the pool if done correctly.

Done correctly? Please expand - LOL. Should I epoxy something like suggested above, rivet, some people suggested just gorilla tape?

If you are uncomfortable finding the right material and technique to make that repair, I would consider hiring a swimming pool guy or a plumber to do it

I'd epoxy a patch over it then tape the edges with Gorilla tape and you should be good for a bunch of years.
