FC at 25 (!)

We went away for a week, and I left our pump running at the lowest setting and the SWCG running at 60%. We got back today, and when I did the FAS/DPD test, the FC reading was 25 ppm.

Is there anything I can do, other than shut off the SWCG, take off the solar cover, and wait for the sun to do its thing? At what level will it be safe to swim?

What's your CYA level?

It is generally considered safe to swim at or below shock level in relation to CYA level.

Pool calculator will answer the question if you plug in your CYA value.

The most practical this is to take off the cover and let the sun slowly burn of the chlorine. You could purchase chlorine neutralizer, but it is unlikely you are in that much of a hurry.

When the pool is covered, it uses far less chlorine than it does when the cover is off, so you need to adjust the SWG down correspondingly.

CYA is about 40, so the pool calculator says <=15 FC or so should be safe.

Let pool drift down to normal fc level per you cya chlorine chart also if you haven't read pool school forum yet there is a ton of helpful info there...
