Wide-mouth vs Regular Sized Skimmers

Hi all!

My liner recently ripped for my IGP and during the course of replacing it we also fix some things with the pool. One of the issues we had were skimmer placement and they installed skimmers in better locations in my pool.

One thing I noticed when looking at other pools is that many of them have the wide-mouth skimmers, while the ones they put in my pool are the standard rectangular ones. I was wondering if one if better than the other? They have to fix something with the liner, so while they are removing that I was wondering if:

1. It makes sense to have them change the skimmers out to be the wide-mouth variant?
2. If it can even be done once they put the normal size ones in.

If they concreted the skimmers in it's probably more trouble than it's worth to have them changed. I like the wide mouthed ones, but I don't know that they actually skim any better than the regular ones.

For vinyl pools, do they normally concrete them in?

Sometimes they do but most of he time not. Sometimes the plumbing gets concreted in too.

I agree with Dave i am not sure they do any better i cant really see how they would . But they sure are cooler looking.
