skimmer question

i have a hayward sp 1080 skimmer.

In the process of trying to find a leak in my pool and while plugging the skimmer holes i noticed between the 1.5" and 2" openings in the skimmer there is a 3/8" round hole and 3 much smaller ones. Nothing seems to be leaking through these holes, so what are they for?

I think that you are referring to the screw holes used to secure a skimmer/main drain diverter.

ahhhh yes, that accounts for the small holes but the one in the middle is like pinky finger sized. Either way i suppose they are all just through a double layered housing, but i was wondering what it is for
