I have a Hayward-Perflex DE filter. Last week I drained the filter and refilled the DE, but I wanted to make sure I did it right.
Filter says it needs 4lbs, I've read you should refill with 80% of that, or 3.2lbs. What I did was I took an old plastic cup (think gas station big gulp) and filled it to the top with DE. Then I placed it on a postal scale I had, and it read "9oz". 3.2lbs is 51.2oz, so I divided that by 9, which came out to roughly 5.5 of those big gulps. That's what I put into the filter.
Did I do this right?
I'm battling some cloudy water as a result of terrible chemical balance (I'm new here and making progress using BBB), but wanted to make sure my DE regeneration wasn't hindering my efforts.
