New pool -pH

Welcome to the forum  Yeah, pretty normal. It may help you go a little longer between additions to take it down to 7.0 - 7.2 and let it go up to 7.8 before adding. 8.0 is a little outside the range of where you should be.

Lightninguy has another good idea for you, too. Keeping your TA low can be helpful. Report your current reading.

Thanks for the input.

I should add that I'm not comfortable with SWG output. Initial set up @ 45. I seeing a rise in Cl and pH since last addition of acid.
Checking NaCl between Leslies, P-a-P analysis, and Aquacheck strips. SWG is reading higher (approx 400 ppm) than the freebees. The Strip tests more in line with the outside analysis. Any thoughts?

Salt tests are all fairly imprecise, getting results that agree within 400 is doing fairly well.

Fresh plaster will continue to increase PH, TA, and CH levels for up to a year.

What is your current TA level?
