    My SWG

Salt has been added several days ago. I been running the SWG 12 hours a day at 100%.

    Here is my reading:
    FC 0
    TAC 0
    Salt 2900
    CYA 90
    TA 100
    PH 7.6
    PHO 300

I am waiting on the SWG to start making chlorine to get the FC level up. I'm Worried about the FAC/TAC still staying low. Should I shock the pool with Chlorine to give it a head start?

You should bring the FC up to about 8 ppm with liquid. In fact you may already be too late and may have to really shock it.

You're better off using liquid chlorine or bleach. Leslies powder plus appears to be Calcium Hypo.
Prolong use of this can cause your pool to have high amounts of calcium.
The benefits of using liquid chlorine or bleach is you are not adding any other chemicals into your pool.

You don't list a CH number in your results so I can't say with certainty but if your CH isn't high you can use it. It adds calcium and yuo don't want that getting too high.

I did not test for CH since my kit didn't have it. I will add liquid Chlorine. How long after shocking can I use the pool?

    Re: My SWG

Lets correct a little terminology. Shocking is a process, not some product you throw into the pool. You're just adding some chlorine to bring the FC up to normal range.

Once you have the chlorine in, wait about 30 minutes before getting in.

I have an estimated 25,000-30,000 gallon pool. I was looking at the chlorine bottle and it says 1 bottle per 10K gallons, so would putting in 2.5 bottles do the trick or should I put a little more such as 3.5 bottles?

    Re: My SWG

Use the http://poolcalculator.com/ to determine how much to put in. If it is 12.5% Sodium Hypochlorite (check bottle), and you want to get to 8ppm of FC, and the pool is 25000 gallons, the poolcalculator is giving ~200 oz needed. Since you have let it drop to 0, I might go to the suggested higher normal level of 12 ppm.

The SLAM process is not finished until: 1. CC < 0.5 ppm, 2. An OCLT < 1.0 ppm and, 3. The water is crystal clear.
