Ok-started w really sunny hot drought conditions....chlorine levels fell (&CYA)s I didn't pay close enough attention to it...then WATER-BUGS arrived & I knew I had issues....cranked up the SWG from 50% to 75%-killed(squashed all biters & non biting water bugs)Finally got rain these last 3 days(overcast) in a row- Now here are my numbers-any suggestions

Read how to add borates to your pool. Since I've had it in my pool I've never had a water bug. But I'm sure the pro's will have something to add about your numbers too.

pH could be a bit lower.

My own experience with backswimners matches kimrst's: ever since I started maintaining borates in my pool they nasty little bugs have kept away.

Correlation, yes. Causation? Don't know.

Thanks guys.....yea would love to hear from the pro's here. Was wondering about the borates. Wasn't sure if the low chlorine caused the bugs or if algae was suspect.....
