I hear a new pool monitoring system is coming out on the market soon-PoolGem. Heard it does a similar job to epool?

There are many systems like the ePool and PoolGem, though very few of them ever make it into retail stores the way the ePool did. None of them work well because there simply aren't any sensors available that can reliably measure the FC level. Even the multi-thousand dollar professional sensors are finicky, require specialized maintenance, and specific water chemistry limitations. Any number of companies can try to make products like this one, but until there is some fundamental breakthrough in sensor technology they will never be successful.
