I was out of town for a while and the big dust storm that hit Phoenix came through while I was gone.

Came home to a muddy pool with a lot of dust and other debris.

Cleaned it up and have tested the water completely (haven't done this for a while).

Here are the numbers.

FC 4
CC 0
pH 8.5
TA 140
CH 400
CYA 90

I know my CYA and CH are high and I will have to drain some of the water to fix this. However I want to wait till the end of summer to do this.

My pH also is VERY hard to maintain. I add lots of acid, a gallon a week, but it keeps going back up to over 8 very quickly.

So my question is what next?? I am presuming that I need to lower my TA and am currently working on this.

Do I have to drain the pool now?

What is the TA of your fill water?
That may be what's keeping your TA from coming down to a mangeable level.
If your fill TA is high I'd purposfully lower the TA to about 60 and see how that works for you.
