dry acid

I have always used muriatic acid with good results to lower ph.
I found myself in wal-mart the other day and bought the dry acid they sell.
the directions call for "broadcasting" the product, but then this is followed with a warning to make sure no undisolved acid is clumped on the pool floor.
Is there a better way to introduce dry acid into my pool?

It is best to pre-dissolve the dry acid in a bucket of water and then pour that slowly in front of a return jet with the pump running.

Muriatic acid is normally quite a bit less expensive than dry acid.
