How long to run my pump !

I have a 15 x 48 intex pool with a intex 16'' 2650 gph sand filter ( i am sure it doesnt put out the rated GPH and thanks to finding this site it is now crystal clear ! Now i would like to keep it that way so i have a couple questions .

#1 How long should i run the pump each day ( i am not trying to be cheap i will run it as long as needed)

#2 Is it better to run it at night or during the day

#1 There's an article in pool school about adjusting your run time. The recommended procedure is to start at about 8 hours a day and reduce the run time over time until you're either happy or it starts getting cloudy then bump the time up a little.

#2 I like to split the run time so it runs a little during the day and the most at night. However, if you have tiered electric rates, there's nothing wrong with running it all at night.

I have always in the past ran it at night and then anytime we are in it during the day So i might just stick with the same routine.
