Fiberglass cover of pool filter

The fiberglass cover of my pool filter is peeling by the harsh sun. I get those tiny fiberglass "needles" in my hands when I clean the filter. Those "needles" will stay for several days. That is why I only clean the filter when it is absolutely necessary. Unfortunately it has been one year. Does anyone have any way to avoid the painful experience? Thanks.

Next time you clean the filter lightly sand the cover (wear a dust mask and gloves and long sleeve shirt). Then spray paint it. I did that to my Pentair filter and no more fiberglass in my arms. If you get fiberglass in your skin duct tape works great to remove it but it will also remove hair so be careful!
