I can't find information about what it should be and when to backwash. Pool store told us to just do it once a week and we'd be fine, but I'm learning quickly not to trust the pool store. So, how do I know? Current pressure is about 22.
A good rule of thumb is to backwash/clean the filter when the filter pressure goes up 6 psi above it's clean filter pressure. In almost all cases once a week is way too often, though the actual frequency of cleaning depends a great deal on the relative size of your pool and filter.
There is no standard pressure. Every pool has a different starting pressure.
