Hayward drain valve assembly

Hayward H series Drain valve assembly leaking. I am guessing the valve needs replaced (CHXDRV1930)--cost: 48.00 w/shipping
Is there any reason I can't just put a $10 dollar plug in it and remove it at end of season for drainage?
