Filter will be out for a few days, Can I run on Recirculate?

I have my filter out for repair and de-greasing for a few days, yet my water is starting to turn a bit green (Just recently opened). Can add liquid chlorine and just run recirculate to keep algea at bay while my DE filter is out for repair? (I have to try and patch a hole). Will this hurt anything?

Learning a ton on this forum. Waiting for my Taylor K-2006 to arrive. Just ordered it.

Yes, you can set the multiport to recirculate and add liquid chlorine to prevent algae.

I did that at the beginning of the season because mice had destroyed my catridge filter. It will kill and prevent algae and the other nasty stuff, it just won't filter them out until you get that fixed.

AFAIK that's the entire purpose of the "recirc" function.
