Need a new filter sand or filter? Is it an option?

I currently have a Jacquizzi (spelling?) filter - the triangular filters - 3 in all. The pump is now obsolete and I was told I have to replace the pipe stand. I was considering changing to a sand filter - I understand they are easier and cheaper to maintain - but it may not be a possibility since my pool guy said they can't find one to "fit" in my pool equipment area. My pump is 1.5 horsepower. Please help - I am new to having a pool and I'm lost when it comes to what I should do/get for a new filter. I have a 27 thousand gallon saltwater inground pool.

How much room do you have? Can you post a photo of the equipment area?
