    CYA Water Replacement

How long would it take to lower my CYA with just normal evaporation and water replacement in Houston, TX? Temp right now is 100 degrees and we are finally schedule for rain this week so I should be draining some water soon.

I don't know how much I'd count on that "scheduled for rain" theory in Texas lately! We were 'scheduled for 101 on Sat and GOT 105 temps! How high is your CYA?

I know what you're thinking but it won't work. The only practical way to lower CYA (unless it's 20ppm or less) is by replacing the water.

    Re: CYA Water Replacement

I think he's hoping he can drain some water off now and use rain to refill. It would work if you got enough rain.

But dehydration and refilling won't work. Only draining.

Very few places in the world get enough rain to make a significant difference to the CYA level. Are you expecting more than one foot of rain?
