Pool won't hold chlorine and water is cloudy

Did you keep applying the bleach everytime your chlorine levels were low? All of our levels are good we are just not
holding chlorine for very long and we can't get our pool cleared up. Its a gorgeous blue but very cloudy and can't see the
bottom. We are beginning to wonder if we need to change our our filter sand.

There are three parts to saying you're done shocking: Pool is clear, lose less than 1 ppm overnight, and less than .5 CC. The question is, are you losing chlorine overnight, or only during the day? Overnight- need to keep shocking; by day - need more stabilizer. The cloudiness could be dead algae not filtering out, but it could also be fresh algae being killed every day so you never reach the end of it.

But this is all conjecture without test results.
