    leaky waterway valve

I have a Waterway 22" sand filter on a 24" a/g vinyl pool. The whole setup was bought new in 2003. The top-mount valve is the clamp-style, which leaks like a little old lady around the ring. I have tried using an O-ring and the flat gasket, and now just the flat gasket (which is the factory recommendation), but the darn thing won't stay dry!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you checked the neck of the vessel and the valve for a crack and did you lube the ring when you put it back together?

Can you post a picture of the leak?
