I have a Hayward EC40 DE filter. During start up of the pump, I get a large white cloud of what I think is my DE. The pump and filter is only 1 year old and I store it in my basement during the winter. I just replaced the liner in the pool last week and filled it with 13000 gallons of city water. I am good on my ph and chlorine. What should I be checking?

Did you take the filter apart and clean it lately? If so, you may not have gotten it back together correctly and it's bypassing back to the pool.
I just cleaned it last night. I let it soak in cascade water and then soaked it in an acid bath (as instructed in pool school post). That seems to be OK. But my pool is very cloudy (white not green). I think I might have a calcium problem. I am shocking the pool tonight to see if that might be part of the problem.
