Chlorinator lid HELP!

We're preparing to go away for a few days and wanted to use our chlorinator. My husband must have over tightened it last time, so when I went out this morning and tried to unscrew the lid, the nut snapped! This leaves me with a cover that is free, and the lid still on the chlorinator, with half of a hollow nut in it and no apparent way to remove it.

I'm having little luck finding replacement parts, which means that I'll have to order them, but I have no idea how I'm going to get the rest of the lid assembly off the darn thing! Any ideas?

Which clorinator do you have?

We inherited this pool from the previous owners, but it looks like the Hayward CL200.

In the below image, it is the nut in the #1 section that has snapped. #3 is off, but I cant remove #5.

If you remove #9 it should relieve any vacuum or pressure on the canister and you should be able to pry #5 off. It may be tight but it'll pry off.

Awesome - I'll try that! We're only in our second season with the pool, and I didn't want to go disassembling things without knowing what would happen.
