    pump size

    i have a hayward sand filter with a 1.5 hp pump on a 24 ft abg pool. is this pump too big for my pool ? it seem like it is a bit strong for the pool. any ideas or recomendations ?
    24 ft. 52 in. deep above ground
    hayward sand filter
    new pool owner/new bbb believer

    What's the model number of the pump. There are several pumps that are rated as 1½ hp and it all depends on whether it's a full rated or an uprated pump as to how big it really is.

    It's most likely an uprated pump which will equal a full rated 1 hp pump.
