Had water tested at pool store for 1st time

So I thought I'd bring a water sample to the pool store and get it tested just to compare to my results.....

TCL 2.06 (what is this?)

They everything is OK, except I need to add 4 lbs. of Hardness, I'm not sure if that is right or not? But I know that my FC is too low, their range is 1-3 ppm.....wouldn't people have algae ALL THE TIME if they went with that range?

pool stores don't account for the CYA, the just test it...
the 1-3 ppm FC is for non-stabilized pools, and it works fine; just impossible to maintain FC on a sunny day or even for a short weekend vacation!
don't worry about adding hardness- not needed in vinyl pools!

Once you get your FC up in the 3-5ppm range, those are VERY nice numbers, indeed! :lol:

Yea... And, if people don't have algae all the time, how are pool stores going to sell you algaecides, phosphate removers and other chemicals to control it... Hmmmmm?

I'm impressed though...overall those test result are not too far off from your own.

TCL would be Total chlorine = FC+CC
