Losing FC levels in SWG

Good morning!

Trying to find a solution to keep CL in pool.

36000 gal inground vinyl liner
SWC intellichlor IC40 (2nd season)
Taylor Test Kit

Levels this morning:

FC 0
CC .5
PH 7.5
CA 80
TA 90
HARDNESS 210
Salt reading high this morning at 3800 recommended 3400.

Water is clear but not lively. Last week worked for 2 days getting TA and PH within range. (lower then arete)
Ph was 7.9 yesterday added acid and it returned to 7.5.
Why am I not generating enough CL
Also with a CA of 80 and a TA of 90 should the TA be higher?
The CA may go higher in a few days as I added CA last friday.
When taking a test at the return CL is reading 2.0 but no reading elsewhere in the pool.

Shocked last week w/ bleach (cloudy water) after high temps and high bather load cleared up over nite but did not hold CL.
Been running generator at 100% for 3 days....

Been a pool owner for aver 20 years never had a problem of pool not holding CL.

Thinking I should shock again? Then add fresh water to reduce the salt??

Thanks in advance.

Nancy

Most likely you have a low level algae problem. The SWG is keeping the algae in check, but never completely killing it off. If you shock the pool you should be able to kill all the algae and the SWG will go back to being able to keep up.

Your salt level is only a little high. You should be fine leaving the salt level where it is.
