AquaTrol & 27'x52" pool?

I know that it's recommended to get a 2x or even 3x capacity SWCG based on your pool size, but I have also seen people here talking about running the AquaTrol near capacity. I'm looking at my remaining budget (just bought pool & supplies, but have to get pump/filter & SWG) and it's starting to get tight if I have to get the AquaRite vs. the AquaTrol. Based on the Pool Calculator, if I fill the pool to 48" (I assume the 52" is total wall height, not water depth), that would put me at about 17K gallons ... the AquaTrol is rated to 18K. Thanks in advance for the advice!

have a customer with the same size pool and aquatrol, they have trouble keeping it chlorinated on the very hot days of summer, have to add liquid chlorine on those days

It depends on where you live. In most of Texas or Nevada or anywhere really hot and sunny an AquaTrol wouldn't be enough for that pool. But in a shaded site in a Northern state it would be way more than enough.

Unfortunately, it gets pretty Dang hot here and the entire yard is full sunlight ... Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and charge the 40k AquaRite :-(

If you don't mind supplementing with bleach on the worst days, you could get by with the Aqua-Trol. A solar cover would also lessen the load on the unit.

hmmm ... so I'm also looking at the CompuPool CPSC36, which is a very similar output rating to AquaRite T15 and it's hundreds less than the Hayward AquaRite ... hmmm decisions decisions.
