winter cover/tarp fix

thanks to this forum, the hardest part of the pool opening so far was cover cleaning! that thing is a nasty mess

i have several holes in the cover. one is about quarter/dime and the rest and small puncture holes. what's the most reliable way to patch it? i have a tarp i can cut some pieces off for patches, but what is the best adhesive?

Contact adhesive should work but I'm not sure because I've not personally tried it.
