DE Question

I have always been unsure of how much DE I should be putting in my filter. I have a Hayward Pro Grid and my pool is 36,000 gallons. I have been putting 5lbs in for initial charge and then 3-4 after a backwash. I have no idea if any of that is correct! Does anybody know?

It depends on the size of the filter. Hayward Pro Grid comes in 4 sizes, as far as I can tell. Somewhere there should be a label that tells you the model number. If we have that, it should be easy to find out how much DE you need.

It is the 3620.

The manual says 4.5 lbs for initial coating. 80% of that would be 3.6 lbs after backwashing.
