Hi New to this site..............Wow A treasure chest on information

I would appreciate your advice on how advisable it is for a DIY'r (moderate ability!) to change the spider on an Astral Multivalve pplease. I think water is leaking through to waste and its 7 years old! Cange whole valve or have a go at the spider? Thanks for reading PAul

You can change the spider gasket and try it out but I just had this issue last week. I did replace the gasket because it was leaking through the backwash line. It did not work so I wasted the money on the gasket and ended up having to install a whole new mulitport valve.

It's relatively easy to replace the spider gasket and most of the time it works to fix the problem. If you're replacing the spider oyu might as well replace the shaft seals too.
