Crystal clear water but green after starting SWG !

Hi,

Just opened my pool for summer last week, after the water was clear and balanced, I started my SWG yesterday morning and when I woke up today the water was still crystal clear but had a light emerald green color. I tested the pool with accucheck strips and everything looks normal ( for what these things are worth... ).

Best advice is to get a good test kit. Second best advice is get some pool store numbers and probably shock it.

HAve your local pool store test it for metals.. Are you on well water?

No well water, just regular tap water...

Thanks for the advice Woody...funny...I'll go to the store tomorrow. I just have never seen my pool like this in four years.

It may just be algae but since you said it's crystal clear, just green it points to copper. Did you use copper algaecide to close it?

Don't know I have it closed by a pool company. But like I said, the water was perfect for the last ten days until I flipped the on switch to the salt water system. It has to be related to that I guess....

What kind of salt water system do you have? The new Intex SWG adds copper to the water in addition to chlorine....

Try adding a startup does of sequestrant.
