    Variable speed pump?

We'll be getting our 16x24 oval Doughboy in the next month or so (AG installed IG). About 10k gallons. Dealer specified Power Pak III 1 HP pump. This doesn't seem like a variable speed pump? Would you recommend a variable speed? What models? Quote says $548 for the pump.

    Re: Variable speed pump?

For an above ground pool a true variable speed pump is almost never worth it. But you should look into getting a two speed pump.

The Power Pak III is a single speed pump.
