Pentair Tagelus filter questions

I have a Pentair Tagelus TA-60 that appears to need new laterals (sand in the pool). I have a couple of questions.

I can't determine the difference between a TA-60 and a TA-60D. Is the difference the "deluxe" multi-valve that is clamp-on instead of screw-on (I have the clamp-on)?

Second, I am considering buying a replacement center pipe assembly but some have mentioned here that they are never cracked and it is certainly the laterals. The assembly costs $25 and I'm thinking it's cheap insurance to have one on hand if I open the filter and find it damaged.

There are very few differences, but there is more than just the multi-port valve. The drain plug is different and a few other minor things.

Problems are almost always the laterals, however the center pipe can crack, it just isn't at all common.
