Test Kit for Borates

I have started using borax in the pool. Do I need to start testing my borates level? If so, what is a good kit to use for this purpose? Also, what is a good test for testing iron in the water.

Thanks!!

The Taylor K-1716 is a good iron test.

If you are just using borax to raise the PH occasionally, there is no need to be testing for borates. It takes a lot of borax to register at all on the test. If you are adding borates specifically to get a borate level of 30-50 in the water, then there isn't any real need for the test strips the first year, since you will have added the correct amount to begin with. You need them on the second and subsequent years, to see how much the borate level fell in the last year.
