We are having a 27' above ground pool installed this week (thanks everyone for the advice in picking out the pool) and I have a question.......is it essential that the skimmer is located downwind? The pool side closest to the house is the west side and we have prevailing west winds. It would be much easier to place the pump and filter on this side (less distance to run electricity). Thanks in advance!

In a round pool it doesn't make as much difference as in an odd shaped pool. While it's nice to have the skimmer downwind of the prevailing winds it's not a huge deal if it isn't. Careful aiming of the eyeball will take care of it. Ask me how I know??
