    Updating Taylor K-2005 to K-2006

    Howdy,

I'm a complete noobie to this site, but have had my pool for over 10 year. I currently have a Taylor K-2005 test kit, but would like to upgrade to the FAS-DPD testing ability of the K-2006 without buying a whole new kit. What are the differences and can I just buy the "extras" separately? What specifically would I need to make my current kit FAS-DPD capable?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!!

The only difference is that the K-2006 includes the FAS-DPD chlorine test, while the K-2005 has the DPD chlorine test. All of the other tests and accessories are the same.

You can add the FAS-DPD test by getting a Taylor K-1515, or something similar.

Tftestkits sells the FAS-DPD test as a stand alone and it contains more R=0871 than the K-1515. You might want to look into that.

You have several choices such as the following:

    KIT ........................... Price . DPD powder . FAS-DPD reagent
    Taylor K-1515-A ...... $26 ... 10 grams ... 0.75 ounces
    TFTestkits FAS-DPD .. $26 ... 10 grams ... 2 ounces
    Taylor K-1515-C ...... $40 ... 10 grams ... 2 ounces

You can see that the FAS-DPD chlorine kit from TFTestkits is by far the most economical. Dave also has some of the fastest shipping and great service.

The kits above contain the R-0003 reagent you already have and they contain a graduated cylinder though you have a comparator block that also has 10 ml and 25 ml markings. Personally, I find the separate cylinder easier to swirl during the FAS-DPD test (and TA test), but if you just wanted to get the R-0870 and R-0871 then you can get those as follows:

R-0870 (TFTestkits repackaged) for $6.75 for 10 grams
    R-0871 for $7.35 for 0.75 ounces
R-0871 (TFTestkits repackaged) for $7.25 for 1 ounce
R-0871 (TFTestkits repackaged) for $9.40 for 2 ounces
    R-0870 for $4.80 for 10 grams
    R-0871 for $7.36 for 2 ounces

Note that the above prices do not include shipping and TFTestkits ships much faster than Amato.
